The family recreation landscape
Bartlett’s family recreation story is broader than a single playground or seasonal program.
The Park District reports 44 parks, 576 owned acres, another 35 leased acres, two pools, two golf courses, a ski hill, an athletic field complex, a nature center, and the Bartlett Community Center. That network supports quick neighborhood outings as well as full destination days.
Water activities have two distinct routes. Barracuda Bay Water Park is the outdoor summer option, with zero-depth entry, a lazy river, slides, an aquatic zip line, lap swimming, spray play, and sand play. Splash Central is the indoor aquatic center, with changing seasonal hours plus swim lessons and programs. Families should check the current facility page for admission, age, height, supervision, and schedule rules.
Beyond the pools, Bartlett Nature Center connects families to trails, camps, scout activities, and nature programs; Villa Olivia adds golf and weather-dependent winter sports; neighborhood parks provide fields, courts, playgrounds, shelters, and trails in different combinations; and the library supplies an indoor calendar organized by age and program type. The variety is the local advantage, but every outing still needs a current check.
